Equipment Validation and Qualification SOP
Purpose:
To establish guidelines for equipment validation and qualification in the laboratory to ensure the performance and accuracy of new or existing equipment.

This SOP applies to all laboratory personnel involved in the validation and qualification of laboratory equipment, including installation, operational, and performance qualifications.

SOP Steps
Equipment Selection and Procurement
- Identify the need for new equipment.
- Determine the specifications and performance criteria required.
- Select equipment based on technical requirements and compatibility with existing systems.
- Evaluate vendors and obtain quotes.
- Procure equipment following laboratory procurement procedures.
- Ensure documentation includes purchase order, specifications, and vendor information.
Installation Qualification (IQ)
- Prepare the installation site.
- Ensure the site meets environmental and utility requirements specified by the manufacturer.
- Verify the receipt of equipment.
- Check for any damage and ensure all components and accessories are included.
- Install the equipment as per manufacturer instructions.
- Follow safety guidelines and use appropriate tools.
- Document the installation process.
- Record the date, time, and personnel involved in the installation.
- Include manufacturer’s installation documentation and any deviations from standard procedures.
