Employee Exit Checklist
Pre-Departure Preparation:
- [ ] Notify relevant departments (IT, Security, Facilities) of the employee's departure date.
- [ ] Review the employee's contract and any non-disclosure/confidentiality agreements.
- [ ] Determine the employee's final working day and ensure they provide appropriate notice.
- [ ] Schedule an exit interview with the departing employee.
- [ ] Inform the payroll department to prepare the final paycheck.
- [ ] Communicate the departure to the immediate team and distribute workload accordingly.
Administrative Tasks:
- [ ] Collect all company property from the departing employee, including:
- [ ] Laptop or desktop computer.
- [ ] Mobile devices (phones, tablets).
- [ ] Access cards, keys, and security badges.
- [ ] Company credit cards.
- [ ] Company-issued identification.
- [ ] Uniforms or work-related equipment.
- [ ] Any confidential documents or materials.
- [ ] Ensure the return of any loaned items, such as books or training materials.
- [ ] Confirm the cancellation of any company-paid subscriptions or services.
- [ ] Update the employee's contact information for reference purposes.
IT and Security:
- [ ] Disable the departing employee's access to all company systems, including:
- [ ] Email accounts.
- [ ] Network accounts.
- [ ] VPN access.
- [ ] Cloud services (e.g., Google Workspace, Microsoft 365).
- [ ] Change passwords for shared accounts the employee had access to.
- [ ] Retrieve or disable any company-owned devices in the employee's possession.
